Blandningen får stå i rumstemperatur i cirka två-tre veckor medan man kontinuerligt behöver släppa ut vätska.
After a tough night...
...with Dad in A&E, it was nice to just relax on Friday evening with good friends.
I left a sickly Miss, a half-sick Fredrik and a badly cold Eleo at home. Poor thing – she has hardly ever been ill in her life and became terribly ill during her first week in Lund and chose to come home to recover.
Adrian bluntly stated that it was the infamous Recce Plague.
New students come together in various activities from near and far, which gives both cross-eyed and quarrelsome viruses the opportunity to mix in a blissful mess.
Zsuzsanna has created her own self-sufficient household over the summer with lots of plants of all kinds of vegetables, fruits and berries.
I was honestly impressed by the jungle that greeted me. They have grown enormously in a short time...
I was given a nice and thorough overview of all the different types of tomatoes, and I must admit that all the peculiar names, except for the cherry tomatoes, went in one ear and slowly trickled out the other...
I think the black tomatoes were called Blackball, which inspired a little respect – in other words, not tomatoes to mess with.
Hungarian peppers seemed to be thriving! They are not strong in flavour at all and are great on sandwiches or for snacking on as they are on the sofa.
Even though I probably wouldn't pass the tomato test, I know for sure that they were absolutely delicious, because I took the opportunity to sneak a few while we were sitting and talking.
There were even large grapes growing, which made me relive northern France from last summer!
Zsuzsanna has started using Bokashi, a Japanese method for composting/fermenting organic waste.
The composting process is accelerated by mixing yeast and bacteria, bokashi bran and waste in a bucket that does not release any odour – because this really does smell like skunk.
The mixture is left at room temperature for about two to three weeks, while continuously releasing liquid as it accumulates. Instead of pouring out the liquid, Zsuzsanna usually uses it to water her flowers because it is wonderfully nutritious.
Considering that the sunflowers made me think of Jack and the Beanstalk, the magic liquid seems to work...
After 2-3 weeks, you can pour the soil into your flower beds and cover it with a layer of soil.
Apparently, the bokashi method releases fewer greenhouse gases than other composting methods.
Since the visiting group travelled by car, there was no wine this time, only non-alcoholic sparkling drinks and wines. The Nozeco was delicious!
The hours literally flew by, but we managed to cover many interesting topics – not least a promise to go to Italy together next summer. The plan is to occupy Marta's flat. She has just started her PhD outside Milan and plans to return home in June-July.
When the cats are away...
